Lauchlan praise for Highlander­s

East Kilbride gaffer Martin Lauchlan is relishing Saturday’s League Two semi-final play-off clash with Buckie Thistle – because he believes his side will be underdogs for the first time this season.

The Lowland League champions will head to the Highlands for the first leg with the return match on May 6 at K-Park.

Kilby have taken the Lowland League by storm and won the title by 13 points from runnersup East Stirling.

But Lauchlan insists Buckie, who thrashed Strathspey 9-0 at the weekend to win the Highland title on goal difference, will be the favourites after their powerful finish to the campaign.

And he’s looking forward to the pressure being off his players.

He told the News: “It’s going to be good going into a game as underdogs for a change. All season we’ve had pressure on us to win but Buckie will be expecting to beat us up there.

“Their home form is pretty good and they’ll fancy their chances.

“They’ve won the league by scoring goals for fun and they’ve had to go right to the very end of the season to win the league, whereas we’ve had a couple of meaningles­s games waiting to see who we will play.

“So they’ll be favourites and will go into the match with a lot of confidence. But we have a
