Desire to fix your local community issues
The Liberal Democrats believe in an open, tolerant and united society. We believe that more power should go to local decision makers and not more government centralisation.
This is what you will find in a local Lib Dem councillor. Our team in East Kilbride are devoted to dealing with local issues. This is what our campaigns have been about and not the national campaigns that the other parties are obsessed with.
We want to support voluntary and community organisations and enable them to run local services or facilities like community halls and small parks.
This is reflected in our campaign for a community centre in Lindsayfield. We also want to enhance the powers of community councils and we want to support their development to areas that do not have much involvement in a community council.
We want more common sense in planning, we want to build communities and not just houses. We will not be held to ransom by housing development that does not provide community infrastructure.
The East Kilbride Liberal Democrat team are committed to investing in mental health and ensuring that local groups are supported.
We want to address issues around homelessness and end the use of temporary accommodation for young people and ensure that the council adopt long-term solutions to support those who are homeless and ensure they can go on to lead fulfilled lives.
A Lib Dem councillor will not be one you only hear from at election time. They will commit to regular updates and regular community newsletters. You will see them at your door and you will see them in your community.
