Robbery anger

The weekend’s news which told how a 12-year-old boy was robbed and his friend, 13, assaulted at a West Mains underpass provoked outrage among East Kilbride News online readers.

“What’s gone wrong with people, ”Anne Weir-mcgregor asked. “Innocent children walking home from school. I’m not in favour of underpasse­s, Bridges would be better. “I hope the young lads are okay.” M air iA ll an said :“Under passes should be done away with. This just proves it. They are meeting places for yobs and used as public toilets. An opportunit­y for a local councillor perhaps?”

Craig Dalziel said :“How much of a scumbag do you have to be to rob a 12-year-old?”

Isabel Braidwood posted: “Totally shocking. Hope the young boy is okay.”

James Boyd Thomson replied: “When I first moved to East Kilbride 40 years ago from Glasgow I thought I was in heaven.

“Things like this didn’t happen here. I don’t know what’s happened to East Kilbride.”

Parking problems

The debate regarding parking – or the lack of it – at Hairmyres Hospital has continued and readers want something to be done.

Lyndsay Erskine said: “Trying to get parked to visit someone or for an appointmen­t is awful.”

Nicky Butler-Shawe said: “There should be parking attendants at both entries into the hospital.”
