A drug dealer who attacked his former partner with a machete before cops uncovered a £5000 stash of drugs at his East Kilbride home is now behind bars.

James Duffy, 47, was sentenced to 14 months in jail after pleading guilty to the offences.

Duffy admitted swinging the large weapon at his victim during a drunken argument at his home in SomervilleTerrace,The Murray on April 17.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard last month how Duffy struck the woman to the middle of her back with the flat edge of the blade, which caused redness and swelling.

Police were alerted to the scene and as well as finding the machete during a search of the house, they uncovered illegal drugs packaged into sets of bags and wraps.

The amphetamines found would have yielded a street value of £4500 and the cocaine was worth £400.

Duffy pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and amphetamines.

When asked about the drugs, Duffy told cops:“Aye I like my coke... aye it’s all f ***** g mine.”

At the sheriff court, Duffy was sentenced to eight months on the assault charge and two concurrent six-month terms for being concerned in the supply of the Class A and B drugs.

Sheriff Vincent Smith also imposed a two-year non-harassment order on Duffy to protect his victim.

Duffy shrugged his shoulders at family members as he was led to the cells. A pervert caught with a haul of child abuse imagery and graphic pornography showing men and women having sex with animals will learn his fate next month.

John Inglis had his sentence delayed until June 2 at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Inglis, 31, used his Samsung mobile phone, a USB memory stick and a hard drive to store 3500 vile images of animals being abused by humans. Indecent images of children being sexually abused were also discovered on the devices.

He admitted the offences which took place between to January 2007 and July 2016 and has been placed on the sex offenders register.
