Martin has last laugh on Buckie

-

East Kilbride boss Martin Lauchlan says Buckie Thistle were so predictable he had a laugh with the fourth official when he correctly called Chris Angus’ sending off in their play-off semi-final win.

The Buckie striker went down easily in the first leg to win a penalty, but he was caught out in the second leg at K-Park when referee Euan Anderson gave him a second booking for diving in the box late on.

The Lowland League champions beat their Highlands rivals 2-1 after a dominant first half display.

Angus was one of two Buckie players shown red after Drew Copeland’s dismissal on the stroke of half-time.

And Lauchlan revealed he told the fourth official Angus was guaranteed to earn an early bath.

He explained:“I actually said to the fourth official when Angus was booked that he was going to get sent off.

“He said: Do you think so? I said: I’m telling you, as soon as he goes into the box again, he’s dropping – and it happened.

“The linesman turned round and actually laughed.

“Their dugout says he (Angus) does that all the time, so he must get away with it in the Highland League.

“But we knew it was coming.

“We knew their tactics, we knew their antics, so nothing was a surprise.

“I thought the officials were excellent and I’m delighted our players kept their cool.

“They didn’t have a chance the whole game after we gave them the own goal.

“I was delighted with how we played and we deserve to go through.”
