Peoplein thedark overPO closure

Customers were left out in the cold after Greenhills Post Office suddenly shut its doors.

The branch, which is under review by Post Office management, closed last Thursday due to “operational reasons” but it is hoped a service will be back up and running as soon as possible.

Queues formed outside the branch with customers left wondering why it was not open.

A Post Office spokesperson told the News: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Greenhills Post Office branch.

“We would like to reassure customers that we are working hard to restore the service to the community as soon as possible and are committed to maintaining services in the area.

“In the meantime, customers can access post office services at Westwood Square Post Office.”

East Kilbride South councillor Archie Buchanan initially raised concerns over the closure of the popular and well-used branch.

He said: “A notice just suddenly went on the door saying they were shut which was worrying.

“I know the Post Office are looking to move premises into another retail unit but there was no warning of Thursday’s closure.

“However, I welcome the good news that the post office facility should be back with us soon and would like to thank the East Kilbride news for looking into this matter.”
