Trial set for assault charge

A Westwood man who clambered on to a first-floor veranda and demanded to get into a house appeared in the dock.

David Muir, of Rockhampto­n Avenue, previously admitted trying to get into a house in Whitehills Place uninvited on October 16, repeatedly banging and kicking a front door and demanding entry, climbing on to a first-floor veranda and continue to demand entry.

A 37-year-old man appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court accused of being in a car in Thorntonha­ll with the intention to steal it. Ryan Batchelor, 37, pled not guilty to two separate charges; being within vehicles in Carol Court with the intention to steal on May 10. He went on to deny entering an insecure car on Peel Road in Thorntonha­ll on the same date and stealing a quantity of money. Trial was set for June 15 with an interim hearing planned for June 5. Banned from driving

A St Leonards woman who got behind the wheel five times over the limit has been banned from driving for 20 months. Alexis Kelly, 23, drove along Old Coach Road in East Kilbride on April 17 with 111 microgramm­es of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of her breath. The legal limit is 22mcg. Kelly, of Davaar, pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving. On top of the ban, she was fined £600 when appearing at Hamilton Sheriff Court for sentencing.
