Ramblers enjoy day out in the sun at Ben A’an

-

The weather was gloriously warm – not a cloud in the blue sky – when Claremont Rambling Club set out for their scheduled walk to Ben A’an.

As is usual procedure, there were two routes with the long walkers tackling four-and-a-half miles up and down the other side of Ben A’an.

In all, the long walkers climbed 1100ft which truly tested their mettle.

The views of Loch Katrine and the surrounding area were in sharp focus and appreciated when the top – and breathe – was gained.

The alternative walk was a sevenmile excursion in and out from the Brig o’ Turk tearoom.

Ben Ledi, on the right, plus stunning views of the Glen Finglas reservoir afforded the walkers crystal clear views.

There was total peace and quiet and the walk was enjoyed by those taking part.

The coffee stop was at Dobbies in Stirling and the social hour was spent in various watering holes in Callander.

All in all, a first-class day’s walking was had.

The next walk is this Sunday and the destination is Culter Fell near Biggar.

The next club night will be on Tuesday, May 23 and the speaker is David Atkins on the subject of Glasgow parks.

David replaces GloriAlex Baird who required to cancel.

The talk will be held in the usual venue of Claremont Church at 7.30 pm.

Individuals wishing to join either walks or club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
