Why did you not try to help?

-

Dear Editor,

This is a letter for a callous taxi driver who knocked down my nine-and-a-half month old cat Sunny on the Greenhills Road/ Mossneuk section on Saturday evening, May 6.

He or she must have known they had knocked him down as it was still light.

Were they so wrapped up in their own wee life that they couldn’t have stopped to see if there was anything they could do to help?

Thank God all people are not like you, lacking in compassion.

I would like to firstly thank the lady who saw the taxi driver hit Sunny and leave the scene and who cradled my baby who was crying with shock and pain.

I also must thank Anne-Marie and Derek for offering to take me to get emergency treatment for Sunny. You were wonderful. And finally, thank you to the two police officers who helped Sunny and I as well.

Unfortunately, my baby was too badly injured and it was with a heavy heart I was advised to get him put to sleep.

His family are all heartbroken. Lynn Robertson, Mossneuk Powerwiththepeople

Dear Editor,

While I’ve no preference when it comes to political parties, the overall outcome of the elections to South Lanarkshire Council pleased me.

No party has overall control and that means councillors have to be pragmatic about their policies and priorities over the coming years.

This will be a good thing for people in this area, in my opinion, and I hope to see our elected representatives rise to the challenge accordingly.

Of course, there will be differences of opinion and the last thing we want is all the parties agreeing all the time.

But we want to see consensus, action taken when and where possible and a grown-up approach within this new administration.

That would be a victory for democracy and productive for the people of South Lanarkshire who rely on and appreciate their public services on a daily basis.

Dear Editor,

The Labour councillors who we told‘wait until May’s elections’ about the rise in golf prices – they didn’t listen.

Mr [Gerry] Convery and his cohorts have been too long in charge and still their arrogance beggars belief.

Time to go. Alex McLaughlin, via email

GoodlucktoKilby!

Dear Editor,

I’d like to wish East Kilbride FC all the best this Saturday in the second leg of their League Two play-off final at Cowdenbeath.

We drew 0-0 at K-Park at the weekend and so have a great chance of winning the tie overall and promotion to the Scottish Professional Football League.

I’m sure Cowdenbeath will start the match as favourites and our lads will have to produce the performance of their lives to win.

But we’ve gone there in the Scottish Cup and won and there is nothing to say we can’t beat them again.

You can do it, boys!
