Charity boost at plant sale

East Kilbride’s firefighters are searching for causes that could benefit from their hugely-popular charity plant sale.

The crew at the Andrew Street station are now taking applications for this year’s event – and looking for groups to get in touch.

Cash raised from the plant sale, which will take place on Saturday, June 3, will be split between the Fire Fighters Charity (formerly the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund) and local charities.

Around £40,000 has been raised over the years by East Kilbride fire station.

The event will have a wide selection of plants, shrubs and baskets on sale and there will also be a tombola to boost the total.

Firefighters will also be on hand to give fire safety advice and kids will be able to hop on board a fire engine.
