Chloe to fight for Scotland

-

West Mains boxer Chloe Bodwick is going for gold after being selected for Scotland at the GB Three Nations Championships this weekend.

The 13-year-old is a member of O’Neil’s Boxing Club in Cambuslang and has made history at the club by becoming their first female internationalist.

Chloe is already in the O’Neil’s BC history books after becoming their first-ever female champion in October when she won the Scottish Novice Schoolgirl Championships.

And now she is targeting more glory when she represents her country in the Three Nations 48kg category at Ravenscraig this Saturday and Sunday.

Chloe told the News:“I’m delighted to be selected and I’m really looking forward to experiencing my first international competition.

“It’s taken a lot of hard work to get here and now I want to make my coaches proud by taking gold for Scotland. It feels really special to be the club’s first female champion and I hope I can be a champion for Scotland now.

“I’ve been training every day, running and going to the gym, so I feel ready for this.

“The support and belief my coaches have shown in me is great.”

Chloe is coached by Brian Murphy, Andy Clayton, Paul Anderson, Danny McMurray and Scott McGregor.

And proud mum Donna said: “Chloe is very dedicated to the sport and as well as training at the club she trains in her own time.

“In just over a year at O’Neil’s she has three junior titles and I know her coaches are really pleased with the progress she has made.”
