Who wins your vote in General Election?
Big poll has split voters once again
As East Kilbride and Avondale voters prepare to head to the polls again, the News took to the streets to find out who you want to see in power.
John Hendry from Westwood told the News: “I’ve always voted Labour – and I will be doing it again.
“I don’t love Jeremy Corbyn but he is the best of the options we have just now.”
Shopper Cathy Norton said she would be backing the SNP in the vote but she admitted she was finding it hard to engage with the General Election campaign.
“I really like Nicola Sturgeon and believe she is doing what is best for Scotland,” she said.
“The fighting between Kezia Dugdale, Ruth Davidson and Sturgeon does put me off a bit.
“It’s hard to get into another election with the same fighting over and over again.”
Liz Dickson admitted she didn’t know who she would vote for – and wasn’t sure if she would even cast her ballot this time around.
“I normally do vote,” she said. “But I don’t like any of the candidates this time.
“I don’t like Nicola Sturgeon, Jeremy Corbyn or Theresa May. I don’t know who I would pick.”
Sheila Clark from Calderwood is still deciding who to vote for but health and pensions are big factors for her.
“I want someone who will help the elderly and protect the NHS,” she said.
“There needs to be improvements in care.”
