This is the most important election in generations. The choice before East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow is whether to vote for a Conservative MP who will focus on tackling the challenges that lie ahead or to back parties offering division and uncertainty.

If elected as your MP, I’ll work to support the economy and ensure people can benefit from secure and high-paying jobs. I believe Britain has a bright future as a great, global trading nation and – although Brexit negotiations will be incredibly tough – Theresa May is clearly the best person to stand up for the UK. We have a plan to pursue a comprehensive free trade agreement with the EU while also gaining new access to other increasingly-important markets like India, China, the United States and Japan. That will deliver a prosperous future and help working families get ahead, instead of just getting by.

I’d vote in parliament to protect people from unfair rises in their bills by setting a cap on what energy providers can charge.

All parties were united by the horrific attack in Manchester and it is important to remember that we have far more in common than dividing us. We do have to decide what approach we should take on national security because fanatics despise our way of life and will commit terrible atrocities wherever they can. As your MP, I’d back the government in both leading and supporting efforts to counter extremism at home and abroad.
