Claremont coast it in Berwickshire

- Edith Findlay

Claremont Rambling Club members enjoyed the views and the fresh air of a coastal walk when they headed for St Abbs, Berwickshire.

Both the long and alternative excursions started at St Abbs and finished in Eyemouth.

The mileage, however, differed in that the long walk was 11 miles and the alternative was five.

The difference related to the long walk including the route round the lighthouse then joining the same walk that the alternative group used leading into Eyemouth.

The views were crystal clear and absolutely stunning. The coffee stop in the morning was in delightful Dunbar and for the social hour members were spoilt for choice in Eyemouth.

The weather was kind, the few showers were limited and very short.

The next walk is this Sunday on the Isle of Arran. Pickup points will be 7.45am at Calderglen High School; 7.55am on Whitemoss Avenue and 8.05am at the Village shops.

Further information is available on the website.

The last club night of this session will be on Tuesday, June 27. It will take the form of a fish supper night and the club is fortunate that one of its own members will provide musical entertainment.

The event will be held in the usual venue of Claremont Church at 7.30pm.

Individuals wishing either walks or club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
