Hunt for vicious thugs after 43-year-old man is targeted STREET ATTACK

Detectives yesterday continued to hunt for two suspects following a serious assault in East Kilbride.

A 43-year-old man was taken to Hairmyres Hospital after a “targeted” attack in The Murray.

He was walking with a friend along Telford Road at its junction with Freeland Lane when two men launched a violent attack.

Cops have launched an investigat­ion to identify those responsibl­e.

Detective Constable Colin Thapar said: “We believe this was a targeted attack. What we need to establish is why this victim was targeted.”

The other suspect is described as being a “little older” and around 6ft tall with a thin build and short brown hair.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are checking CCTV images for any additional informatio­n which could help the investigat­ion.

They are appealing for a good Samaritan who helped the victim to come forward.

Detective Constable Colin Thapar said: “We believe this was a targeted attack, however, what we need to establish is why this victim was targeted.

“We are continuing to carry out enquiries in the area and I am appealing to local people to contact us.

“In particular, a lady who came to the victim’s aid, I would ask this lady to contact us as she may hold vital informatio­n which could assist our enquiries.”
