Kilby set to face Celtic XI

Billy Stark knows his East Kilbride side will be severely tested

Billy Stark knows his East Kilbride side will be severely tested no matter the calibre of the Celtic squad that plays at K-Park on Saturday.

The Scottish champions will send a Celtic XI to K-Park to face the Lowland League title holders. Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops are playing Shamrock Rovers in Ireland on the same day so while it won’t be a star-studded line-up, Stark insists his players will still be in for a huge test. The Kilby boss, who played for Celtic and was also assistant to Tommy Burns at Parkhead in the mid-90s, said: “You are never sure what team they will send for a match like this, but what ever level of team you play from one of the Old Firm, you know that team will be full of quality. “I expect we will be severely tested and I think there will be one or two players who are well-kent faces in the Celtic side, along with some of the Colt players. “When it’s one of the Old Firm, there can be a bit of an aura about them so it’s important that we don’t get caught up in that, keep our composure and come out of the match with a bit of credit. “We know the way Celtic like to play football, so we will be spending a bit of time out of

good role model for the younger ones at the club and I’m sure they will learn from him.”

McCann, who played nearly 70 games for Hibs at the start of his career, spent last season at Albion Rovers but injury problems ensured he never featured for the first team. In recent seasons he enjoyed spells at Livingston, Falkirk and Morton.

Proctor added: “I know Kevin’s had some injuries recently and is coming to the club in a similar position to me.

“I had problems with my back and was looking to get games under my belt.

“Last season I managed 30odd games and that was great, so I’m sure he’ll be looking to do the same here.”
