Cash for community groups
Community and playscheme grants worth almost £9000 have been handed out in East Kilbride and Avondale.
A number of play schemes will receive a cash boost following the first meeting of the new East Kilbride area committee.
Moss out-of-school service in Mossneuk, Playcare out-of-school care in The Murray and Strathaven afterschool club were each given a £600 grant while Special Needs Adventure Playground (SNAP) Playscheme in East Kilbride has been awarded £400.
A number of community groups will also receive a windfall. They are:
●Kilbryde Burns Club – £200 for an outing.
●Red Deer Woodwork 2 – £200 for equipment. ●St Andrew’s Court – £200 for outing. ●Women’s Royal Voluntary Service Darby and Joan Club, Strathaven – £200 for outing.
●Drumclog Kirk Guild – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●Nerston Women’s Rural Institute – £200 for outing.
●University of the Third Age (U3A) – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●Education in Retirement Class – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
Strathaven Balloon Festival – £500 for materials, equipment, administration and publicity costs.
●Hunter Ladies’ Bowling Club – £200 for outing.
●East Kilbride Bowling Club – £300 for outing, entrance fees and administration and publicity costs.
●Gilmourton WRI – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●Friends of Strathaven Scouts – £200 for equipment, administration and publicity costs.
●Claremont History Club – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●RSA Club – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●Boys’ Brigade, Glasgow Battalion, East Kilbride – £200 for outing.
●St Leonard’s Bowling Club – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●East Kilbride Visually Impaired Group – £200 for outing. ●Horizon Art Club – £200 for outing.
Claremont Church Good Companions Club – £200 for outing.
●Claremont Parish Church Ladies’ Circle – £200 for outing.
●Cresta Club, Strathaven – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●East Kilbride 60+ Activity Club (ceilidh) – £200 for outing.
●East Kilbride Seniors’ Forum – £200 for outing.
●Buddies Toddlers, East Kilbride – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●Greenhills Parish Church Women’s Guild – £200 for outing.
●Brancumhall Seniors’ Bowling and Recreation – £250 for outing and entrance fees.
●17th East Kilbride Brownie Pack – £200 for outing.
●WRVS Happy Corner Stroke Club, East Kilbride – £280 for specialist transport.
There is £17,620 left in the coffers for the remainder of 2017/18.
