Heritage Cup prize pot hits £1200
The Heritage Cup returns to East Kilbride Bowling Club this weekend as the Village venue plays host to its annual gents triples tournament.
The competition is now in its fifth year after replacing the DP Marshall tournament, which had run for 25 years.
Clubs from Central Scotland, including representatives of East Kilbride clubs, and England will compete for the trophy.
There is a prize pot of £1200 which will ensure keen competition on the day.
John Donnelly, director of Heritage Funeral Services who are the tournament’s main sponsor, said: “We are delighted to be associated with this competition and I’m sure the day will be keenly anticipated by all bowls club members and the general public who attend on the day.
“It is a pleasure to put something back into the community with an event like this and I trust that everybody will enjoy themselves on the day.”
EK Bowling Club’s Derek Masia said: “Without John’s valuable contribution to the club, its members could not afford to run the competition.
“We are extremely grateful to The Heritage Funeral Company”.
Tea, coffee and alcoholic drinks will be available throughout the day and there will be a raffle.
The competition starts at 9.30am and is expected to conclude around 6.30pm with the prize presentations.
