Young is new EK assistant

-

Craig Young is East Kilbride FC’s assistant manager once more after being appointed to Billy Stark’s backroom team alongside David Proctor.

‘Gigz’ was No. 2 to Iain King in Kilby’s maiden season in 2013/14 and led the club to their first-ever trophy that season, the South Region Challenge Cup.

He returned to K-Park last year to assist Kilby’s development team alongside ex-pro Ally Graham and Graeme Mullin. The trio guided the Kilby kids to a domestic treble.

Young, who lives in St Leonards, has been assisting Stark since his arrival in June and his role has now been made permanent.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to officially become assistant manager of the first team again.

“As a local guy from East Kilbride, I have a real passion and determination to help the club achieve its aim of SPFL promotion, and to get the opportunity to do this alongside Billy Stark and David is a very exciting prospect.”

Meanwhile, former Inverness defender David Proctor comes on board as first team player/coach.

The 33-year-old said: “It has always been my ambition to explore a pathway into coaching and I hope to be able to pass on some of my experience while remaining available for selection to play as often as possible.

“The chance to learn and improve my coaching knowledge with the gaffer and Gigz is fantastic.”
