Help us keep the music coming

Join the committee

- Mark Pirie

The group behind the Strathaven Folk Festival are looking to boost their committee numbers for next year’s event.

After a successful year, which saw venues across the town filled with folk tunes and shows at the end of July, the group are aiming to boost their committee numbers.

They are also hoping to have performers put their names forward to be part of the line-up.

Festival committee member and Avondale and Stonehouse councillor Margaret Cooper said: “I would like to thank the committee for all their hard work in putting together this years very successful programme.

“We are a small committee of very committed people. Graham Carter, Liz Higgins and John Young are our folk experts.

“Les Hoggan like me is ‘jack of all trades’ though keeping us viable is our main focus.

“Roddy Gillies and all the team at The Crib and Epicentre help with food and venue.

“We had an outstanding array of people singing, playing and entertaining this year and we could not do it without your generous support.

“We also had fantastic support from the many venues across the town and thank you for welcoming in the performers.

Councillor Cooper continued: “Looking forward to next year, if you want to be part of the entertainment contact Graham Carter. If you are interested in being a venue speak or if you want to be part of the planning join our committee just ask one of the current committee members.”
