Scoring spree for EKYM

-

It was raining goals for East Kilbride YM this week after they netted 23 times in two League Cup games.

On Saturday YM confirmed their place in the quarter finals of the league cup defeating Symington Tinto 16-3.

Ross McDonagh scored four, William Hastings and Craig Fry grabbed hat-tricks, Anthony Penman bagged a brace and there were solitary strikes from Craig Tocher, Jordan Fletcher, Ryan Kelly and Cammy McCulloch in the astonishing rout.

Meanwhile, last Wednesday night’s clash with West of Scotland Amateur Cup holders, Cambria, ended in a 7-1 triumph.

Full back Craig Kincaid started the rout when he connected with Craig Fry’s teasing cross to head into the net.

Anthony Penman and Tocher tormented the Cambria defence and McDonagh netted Tocher’s low cross to double the lead moments later.

McDonagh netted YM’s third goal, once again scoring from a Tocher cross to give YM a healthy half time lead.

Early in the second half Penman converted from McDonagh’s pass to make it 4-0 before McCulloch scored YM’s fifth with an exquisite free kick from just outside the box.

Fry increased YM’s total to seven with two fine strikes late on and in the closing minute Cambria found a consolation.

Tonight YM play their first league match away to Woodhall at Wishaw Sports Centre, kick off 6.45pm, and on Saturday Rothesay Brandane visit YM with a 1pm kick off at Hamilton Palace.

Elsewhere, YM’s GGPL side started their league cup campaign with a 5-2 victory at John Street. Ross Anderson scored twice, with Scott Anderson, Jack Brown and Mark O’Donnell also finding the net.
