On ball for EKCT

Charity match organised

- Nicola Findlay

A charity football match has been organised to help boost the funds of East Kilbride Community Trust.

Boxer and gym owner Josh Sandford, who represented Scotland two years ago in a tournament in Belgrade, Serbia and came second, wants to help more youngsters get into sport after EKCT supported him through sponsorship.

He now runs EK Boxing Club, which is based in College Milton, and this year alone members of the club have hiked Ben Nevis, raising £700 for the Royal Hospital for Children, and taken part in the Glasgow 10k to raise awareness of mens’ health issues.

The charity football match will take place on Sunday, October 8 at K-Park.

Kick-off is 4pm although the gates will be open earlier.

To take part in a team costs £15 per head but for entrance at the gate you can get to pay a donation of your choice.

Josh, 22, who is from Westwood, said: “I first became involved with EKCT a couple of years ago when they helped me with sponsorship.

“The money raised through the charity football match will go towards encouraging youngsters to take up sport and keep them off the street.”

For more information about the match or to find out how to get involved, go to the EK Boxing Club Facebook page and private message Josh.
