Ladies’ lunch

Strathaven Academy PTA will host a ladies’ Bubbles and Bites event at the Ballgreen Hall on Saturday, September 16. Tickets are £15, which includes two glasses of fizz and a buffet. There will also be a bar, games, dancing and lots of fun. Contact Gail Mercer for tickets.

Strathaven Rugby Club is running Intro to Rugby sessions throughout September, with all primary school pupils invited to have a go. Boys and girls can take part in the free fun sessions each Friday in September from 4pm to 5pm. The sessions will introduce them to rugby in a safe and welcoming environmen­t. Lisa Cameron MP has invited local companies to an internatio­nal trade day conference at the Strathaven Hotel on Friday, September 8. To support local businesses in the step up to becoming an internatio­nally trading enterprise, she is hosting a conference with guest speakers from Hong Kong and China who are experts in business, investment and trading links. Businesses can learn about exporting and overseas buyers, how to represent Scotland on the world stage, developing business and investment­s overseas, and investing and strengthen­ing trade with China. Dr Cameron will chair the event and there will be a keynote speech from Angus Brendan MacNeil MP, chair of the House of Commons internatio­nal trade committee, as well as supporting talks from experts in business investment and export/import trading links.
