There was a theme to your coverage of our local council in last week’s paper – the prices of everything are going up.

If it isn’t licences affecting taxi drivers and the like, couples wanting to get married are going to have to pay extra. Where will it all end? It won’t! Joe Public will continue to be the cash cow milked by the UK Government, the Scottish Government and local government.

Now, I don’t object per se, providing the money goes into providing vital services, particularly for those who are vulnerable, the elderly and children.

But is that the case? I remain to be convinced. Perhaps those in head office can enlighten us? South Lanarkshire taxpayer, via email
