Thumbs up for walking routes

Claremont club members enjoy trip out west

The final walk in August for Claremont Rambling Club’s longwalkin­g group was a new one in their diary.

Lix Toll to Lochearnhe­ad was a 10-mile excursion and not an easy one given it was five miles up and five miles down.

However, this did not a p p e a r t o p ha s e t he walkers one bit and it was subsequent­ly accomplish­ed without any problems.

The alternativ­e walk was nine miles, which covered a route f rom St rat hyre t o Callander.

Much to the pleasure of those taking part, it was the exact opposite from their previous experience of the same walk, where they had h e av y r a i n f r o m s t a r t t o finish and in the end they had been totally ‘drookit’.

Overall, the weather on the two walks was absolutely ideal for the purpose and much appreciate­d by those taking part.

The morning coffee stop was at Dobbies in Stirling a nd t h e s o c i a l h o u r was spent in various watering holes in Callander.
