Bowled over Ten goals were scored on East Kilbride Ladies Hockey Club’s trip to Glasgow Academicals last week – but only one of them was claimed by the visitors.

A goal in the opening five minutes from Sonya Andrews was a great start for EK’s first XI.

However, it was to be their only highlight in a game which went rapidly downhill and resulted in humiliation.

Accies quickly recovered, getting back on level terms within 10 minutes and adding a second soon after some solid open play, which had Topek-sponsored EK in disarray.

The visitors did manage a couple of attempts from Katie Stewart and Sally Hall which were saved by the keeper but it was the white shirts of Accies all the way, and no surprise when they added a third before half time.

Glasgow’s killer goal however, came just after the second half started, a speculative shot trundling around in EK’s D popped up off a defender’s stick and in.

EK never recovered and just could not find any flow or rhythm to get them out of their own half as the goals rained in for the hosts.
