-

Ice skating starlet Taylor McLeod has been selected to represent Team GB in Bulgaria next month.

The 13-year-old, a member at East Kilbride Ice Figure Skating Club (EKIFSC) has moved up two stages in her skating since May and will now compete at the advanced novice level.

Taylor’s top performances on the ice has led to a call-up to the Great Britain squad for their venture to Sofia to take part in the Denkova-Staviski Cup, from October 31 to November 4.

Her dad Simon said: “She will be competing in the advanced novice competition to compete with some very talented girls from all over Europe.

“We took the decision to make the move this year to go to advanced novice to give her three full years at this level up to 15 before she make the transition to junior.”

In May, Taylor competed at the Murrayfield IJS competition for the first time at advanced novice and finished in overall third place.

Following that success, she travelled to the Coventry Open in June and finished sixth before finishing inside the top 10 at the IJS Sheffield event, the UK’s second biggest competition, in August.

Taylor’s sister Isla is also making great strides on the ice.

She has moved up two levels in a short period of time to level two and just recently passed her level three field moves test.

She will join Taylor at the upcoming Deeside Open, north Wales then onto the Aberdeen Open in October at level two.
