Families voice their concerns as opposition to move grows

The News and Stay in EK have launched a petition which can be signed at outlets throughout East Kilbride town centre.
It reads: “We the undersigned call on the UK Government to reverse the decision which would see the East Kilbride Centre 1 and Plaza tax offices close.
“The plan for regional centres is not value for money; would cost jobs; would have a hugely negative impact on the economy of East Kilbride and South Lanarkshire and bring to an end a long and proud association HMRC has had with the area. “As we celebrate East Kilbride new town’s 70th anniversary, our message to government and HMRC is to Stay in EK.” The campaign has support from MPs and MSPs from right across the political spectrum.
