Families voice their concerns as opposition to move grows

●The single parent who insists a move out of East Kilbride would be devastatin­g for the life she has with her daughter.

The News and Stay in EK have launched a petition which can be signed at outlets throughout East Kilbride town centre.

It reads: “We the undersigne­d call on the UK Government to reverse the decision which would see the East Kilbride Centre 1 and Plaza tax offices close.

“The plan for regional centres is not value for money; would cost jobs; would have a hugely negative impact on the economy of East Kilbride and South Lanarkshir­e and bring to an end a long and proud associatio­n HMRC has had with the area. “As we celebrate East Kilbride new town’s 70th anniversar­y, our message to government and HMRC is to Stay in EK.” The campaign has support from MPs and MSPs from right across the political spectrum.
