Public to have a say

-

A consultation into the proposed change of catchment areas for Duncanrig Secondary and Calderglen High is now open to the public.

The consultation by South Lanarkshire Council will be open until Friday, December 1.

Parents, carers and other interested parties are being asked to consider two options as the result of plans for a new primary school in Jackton as part of the expansion of the East Kilbride Community Growth Area (CGA).

The options are: the new school due to be built in the Jackton area be re-aligned to Calderglen High with no change for children at Greenhills Primary (current associated secondary school is Duncanrig Secondary); or change the associated secondary school for Greenhills Primary to Calderglen High (with pupils from the new primary school in Jackton attending Duncanrig Secondary).

A report previously went to the council’s executive committee outlining the first option with the second option added on a revised paper which went before councillors.

While Duncanrig Secondary is nearing capacity, Calderglen High has, and is projected to have, sufficient capacity for at least 300 additional pupils.

You can give your view on the proposal consultation document available on SLC’s website by completing the feedback form at the end of the document or phone Education Resources on 0303 123 1015 or email education@ southlanarkshire.gov.uk
