Prison term for carrying a knife

Being caught carrying a knife on New Year’s Day while released on bail landed a Westwood man in jail.

Thomas McGuigan, 30, admitted possession of the weapon at Rosslyn Avenue on January 1.

He denied a further threatening behaviour charge in which he brandished a knife but was found guilty at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

McGuigan, of Kelso Drive, was imprisoned for 10 months.
