A team from drinks giant CocaCola’s East Kilbride plant went the extra mile for charity by taking part in the annual Kiltwalk fundraiser.

Eleven employees from Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) raised £4000 for A&M Scotland – an organisati­on which supports young people living in deprived areas.

And they all enjoyed the experience so much they can’t wait to look out their kilts and take to the streets once more at next year’s event.

Last week the CCEP employees who took part in the walk welcomed representa­tives from A&M Scotland to the town’s factory and presented them with the cheque for the cash they raised.

Employees were also able to hear from the charity about the important work it does with up to 2500 young people every week.

And they were told how the funds raised from CCEP will help to support its mission to improve the lives of children across Glasgow.

This year’s Kiltwalk in Glasgow was the biggest event yet, with a total of 7293 people taking to the streets to support a range of charities across Scotland.

John Charles, distributi­on manager at CCEP East Kilbride, said: “Having been part of the CCEP team that participat­ed in this year’s Kiltwalk, it was fantastic to meet the team from A&M Scotland and hear more about the inspiring programmes they run and how the money we raised will help to support them.

“Taking part in such a worthwhile event with colleagues from across the East Kilbride factory was a great experience and one that we’re all very proud of.

“We look forward to following the progress of A&M Scotland’s work with children across the Glasgow region – and of course we are eagerly awaiting next year’s walk!”
