As masters of ceremony, newly elected head boy Jack Mitchell Divers and head girl Alice Glass were delighted to lead the proceedings, welcoming Bernard Ponsonby, political editor of STV News, as the guest speaker for the night.

In welcoming pupils, parents, teachers and invited guests from the wider learning, faith and town communities, they gave a brief outline of the school’s successes throughout the past session.

During the evening the audience was entertained by the school’s concert band, samba band, solo vocalist Cara McQuiston and solo guitarist Calum Hopkins, as well as the school drama group sharing some of the hits from past school shows.

Having been invited to present her headteacher’s report for last session, Mrs Fiona Mullen focused on the logo for the evening, ‘Faith in our Future.

Through the impressive array of SQA successes and examples of wider achievement and vocational opportunities she shared with the audience, she concluded that the pupils of St Andrew’s and St Bride’s have a very promising future to look forward to.

Mrs Mullen expressed her gratitude to the pupils for their continued hard work, enthusiasm for learning and willingness to get involved.

She also praised the constant help and encouragement of parents and carers, the unceasing spiritual support of the local parishes and the professionalism and dedication of staff, not only in St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High School but across the whole learning community.
