Nursery kids give food thumbs up

-

It was move over Masterchef as East Kilbride’s toughest food critics gave their verdict on the new Go Fresh menu for nurseries.

Tots from Ballerup and East Milton nurseries were among 36 three- and four-year-olds from across South Lanarkshire who assembled at the council’s headquarters in Hamilton for a special tasting session.

The children tried a range of dishes including fish pie, savoury mince, pizza and fish cakes and used electronic voting pads to share their opinion.

And the tasty treats met with the hungry kids’approval.

Facilities service advisor Isabel Veitch said:“It is important that the food provided in our early years establishments is healthy and nutritious but equally vital that the children will eat it and enjoy it.

“This tasting session was an opportunity to hear the honest opinion of our target audience and you do not get much more honest opinions than those of three- and four-year-olds.

“I am delighted to say we seem to have got things right with the new menu items getting a positive response.”
