Big internet boost for town
More fibre broadband has gone live in East Kilbride thanks to a multimillion pound investment programme.
Areas including Lindsayfield were thought to be out of the reach of high-speed services due to an historic legacy of the copper network.
However, the £428m pledge by Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband will now see improved internet access across the country.
East Kilbride MSP Linda Fabiani said: “It is fantastic that the Scottish Government is on target to reach 95 per cent of fibre coverage by the end of this year, with the programme still progressing further.
“East Kilbride has seen the benefit of this rollout, and will continue to do so in the next couple of years.
“There have been issues in parts of the town.
“Bits of Lindsayfield in particular – have suffered from lower speeds of internet usage.
“Whilst improvement is ongoing, I will continue to monitor and meet regularly with Digital Scotland.”
