Hockey women fight back to draw

East Kilbride ..... 2 GHK ................... 2

A fighting second-half performance from East Kilbride Ladies Hockey Club’s first XI saw them share the points in this home encounter with Glasgow High Kelvinside.

The Topek-sponsored side had a first half best forgotten as GHK scored one, then another just before halftime to go in to the break in a commanding position.

But in the second half East Kilbride were much improved and started using small passes to keep possession and fight their way back into the match.

Shona Kinloch and player of the match Sheona Hutchison linked well on the left to take the game to GHK and it was fitting that Kinloch made the breakthrough to put EK back in the mix.

Ten minutes later Hutchison brought them level, finishing a lovely passing move from the back to score.

Keeper Mairi MacDonald still had a couple of saves to make with her feet to keep the visitors out. But they held off GHK and nearly nicked all the points, when Hutchison’s blast at goal was saved and Paula Richmond’s shot was stopped by the keeper. Glittering success
