Hold-up charge

A man denied holding up an East Kilbride bookmakers at knifepoint when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Paul Barrett, 27, pled not guilty to attempting to rob an employee at William Hill, on Cullen Street in The Murray on May 31 last year.

He is accused of brandishing a knife and demanding money.

The case was continued until Wednesday, November 15. The court heard that Barrett, of Caithness Street, Blantyre, was looking to lodge a special defence of alibi.
