EK Thistle Ams..5 Dysart Ams ........ 1

East Kilbride Thistle Amateurs came from behind to thrash Dysart AFC in the third round of Scottish Cup on Saturday.

With the senior team having a free weekend, the spotlight was on the Amateur squad and they did not disappoint at Ballerup as they secured a place in the fourth round for the first time in their short history.

Dysart took an early lead after a free kick was floated into the back post and the attacker nodded home.

And 10 minutes later Thistle had their keeper to thank as Connolly pulled off a stunning save with the ball heading for the top corner.

However, it was all Thistle after that as they dominated possession and in the second half they got their reward.

Two early goals from Thomas Tracey settled Thistle’s nerves and they began to control the game with some slick passing, great movement and determination.

A Jordan Connor brace and a slick finish from David Wilson buried Dysart and Thistle go marching into the fourth round, the best they have achieved since forming three years ago.

Thistle are currently sitting mid-table in the Strathclyde Saturday Morning League and this weekend they take on Bengal Lancers at the Showpark.

EK line-up: Connolly, McGlone, Sloan, Campbell, Dolan, Wilson, Brown, Connor, Oates, Tracey, Carr.

Subs: McSherry, McSherry, Irvine, Livingstone, Smith.

• Meanwhile, following their big result East Kilbride Thistle Amateurs would like to give a big thanks for their continued support and sponsorship from the Montgomerie Arms, H Jarvis and the Damada Group. Off to sunny Spain
