Camera Club November has been a busy and successful month for Strathaven Camera Club starting with tutorial nights on software and photograph­ic techniques followed with an evening with celebrated landscape photograph­er Colin Prior. The successes were the second image battle in the GDPU leagues against Lanark Camera Club which Strathaven won by 334 points to Lanark’s 304 with the top image coming from Strathaven’s Robert Young “Throwing in the Towel”. On Sunday, November 19 Strathaven competed in the Scottish Photograph­ic Federation­s digital championsh­ip in Stirling. The competitio­n was against 27 other clubs from across Scotland and Strathaven came 8th a massive advance on last year’s equal 16th position within its group, the club was pitted against some of the largest and best clubs in Scotland. Furthermor­e David Spinks one of our newer members received a judges choice bronze medal for his image “Sunshine and Showers”. On Thursday, November 30 the club had its second internal competitio­n an open landscape theme and two of our newer members having great success with Bob McLachlan taking a clean sweep of 1st, 2nd and third places his winning Image “Break in the Clouds” and image of the Old Man of Storr, on Skye. David Spinks also claimed three equal 3rds alongside Bob’s third placed image. Members are reminded that December 7 is a hand in night for the next internal competitio­n and the 15th is the annual dinner held at Strathaven Golf club, the club will then be on holiday until January 11.
