Firm’s expansion bid

A Christmas jobs boost of nearly 50 posts is coming to East Kilbride.

Travel management company Clarity is set to double its workforce in the town and move into larger premises in the Plaza following a £200,000 investment.

It has announced 40 new posts will be created as part of ambitious expansion plans.

The East Kilbride division will be recruiting customer service profession­als to join the specialist teams based at The Plaza.

The business will also extend apprentice­ship outreach, continuing its work with South Lanarkshir­e College to invest in the best local talent, by providing structured work placements and business mentoring to students.

The 40 new roles will be filled over the next six months and join the existing team in brand new offices.

East Kilbride is the secondlarg­est office within Clarity in terms of staff, after the company’s Manchester headquarte­rs.

Clarity CEO Pat McDonagh said: “East Kilbride represents everything we stand for – the brightest talent delivering the most efficient, cutting edge technology­led travel services.

“We’re proud to continue our long-standing presence in the area and invest in job creation to extend the excellent work coming from this regional office.”

Meanwhile, eight new posts are being created by Australian stationery retailer Smiggle which is set to open in East Kilbride’s south mall on Friday.

Smiggle managing director John Cheston said: “We are thrilled to be introducin­g our products to local areas and giving fans greater opportunit­y to purchase our unique products.

“There really is nothing like Smiggle anywhere else on the high street – and it will be great to see the public’s reaction in East Kilbride.”
