Members hailed at golf club prizegiving
A highly successful season was celebrated in style at East Kilbride Golf Club last weekend at the club’s annual prizegiving.
As well as presenting an array of silverware to the winners of the club’s internal competitions, special tribute was paid to the East Kilbride members who had won prestigious titles outwith the club in 2017.
Club Champion for the year was Kenny Gallacher, with Susan Woodhouse triumphing in the Ladies Championship and her brother Allan the victor in the Junior Championship.
While acknowledging their successes, club captain Ian McDonald also pointed out the remarkable achievements of EK golfers in regional and national competitions.
“The inaugural Ping Scottish Mixed Foursomes were held at Gleneagles this year,”said Ian. “And an East Kilbride Golf Club team – husband and wife Martin and May Britovsek – took the title.
“In addition to winning our Junior Championship, Allan Woodhouse won the West of Scotland Boys title and Ross Hinshelwood took the Lanarkshire Match Play title.
“Congratulations to all of them and everyone who made 2017 such a successful time for East Kilbride Golf Club.”
Gallacher’s club champion triumph was the seventh time he collected the accolade after winning his first title back in 1992.
