Duo deny targeting vehicles

- Nicola Findlay

Trial has been set for a duo accused of stealing a number of items from a car in an East Kilbride street.

Ian MacDonald, 31, and Brian Galloway, 29, both of Lindsay House homeless unit in the Village, pled not guilty to a number of charges.

The men denied culpably and recklessly entering an insecure car on January 15 on the driveway of a property within Harris Grove in Lindsayfield.

The charge against the men goes on to accuse them of causing the parking brake to disengage whereby the vehicle rolled onto the street to the danger of pedestrians.

They went on to deny stealing a watch, a set of nail clippers, a pair of sunglasses, a bag containing swim wear and a bag containing cleaning products from the vehicle.

MacDonald also pled not guilty to being within a car in Wakefield Avenue in Lindsayfield whereby it could be reasonably inferred he intended to commit a theft.

Meanwhile, Galloway denied repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering threatening and abusive remarks to police officers at Wakefield Avenue on the same date and a separate charge of assaulting a cop by kicking him on the body.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court trial was scheduled for February 14.

An intermediate hearing for both MacDonald and Galloway was set for February 1.
