SPORTS AWARDS:NOMINATE YOUR STARS
Time to nominate 2017’s star performers
2017 at national or international championships or who have had the honour of representing Scotland or Great Britain in prestigious international events or championships.
Information is also required on local teams who have had a top year of achievement during 2017 at international, UK or Scottish championship level.
Sports Council treasurer Bob Anderson is encouraging clubs from across the town to act fast and make sure their star performers get the recognition they deserve.
He said: “After the success of our 50th anniversary awards last year, we are hoping to kick on from there and see more nominations this year.
“I know 2017 was another great year for sport in the area so we know there is a lot of talent out there.
“We hope clubs and individuals from all sports will get in touch with us to put their nominations forward, making sure we have yet another successful awards evening.”
The awards are only open to amateur sportsmen and women who reside in East Kilbride and the surrounding areas.
The News and the sports council have no bearing on who is entered into each category so nominations are needed in the following categories:
In the team categories there are awards for club of the year, senior team of the year, junior team of the year (under 18, as of January 1, 2017), coach of the year, administrator of the year and there is also a services to sport award.
Anyone can make a nomination simply by filling in the nomination form on this page or by emailing eksportscouncil@ gmx.com, giving the details of the nominee, their sport and achievements. Any enquires should also be directed to this address.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
