Band on the right road with anti-bully message

School tour on cards

An East Kilbride band hopes to hit the right note by spreading their anti-bullying message to schools in the town.

Since last year, four-piece rockers Single By Sunday have visited schools in the north of Scotland to the south of England to chat to pupils about online safety, cyber bullying and discrimination.

The band visit schools with an overall brief of delivering a positive message to the pupils – and they hope to be able to bring the shows to their home town soon.

Sessions start with the group playing some of their tracks before delivering a talk and hosting a general Q&A.

Band manager Kendell Smith wants to see them added to lineups in East Kilbride soon.

He said: “Schools in South Lanarkshire have been invited to take part – to date none of them have. We have a young local band who are doing something positive with their talent but they are also delivering a much-needed and positive message.”

The band members are singer Josh Ladds, guitarist Jonny Eakins, bassist Jack Black and drummer George Wilson.

Capital FM named them as Scotland’s best unsigned band and they have already been compared to the likes of Busted and The Vamps.

In 2017, the band made a number of festival appearances, including Carfest, Belladrum, Camden Rocks and Sunflower Fest in Northern Ireland.

They have spent a lot of time on the road which culminated in them being invited to play at Indie Week 2017, in Toronto, Canada.

Single By Sunday have also been invited to play at the Millennium Music Conference 2018 in the American city of Pittsburgh next month following the release of their new track ‘Punk – U’ earlier this month.
