East Kilbride YM’s Greater Glasgow Premier side twice came from behind to beat John Street 4-2 on Saturday.

That’s now four wins on the bounce for YM and leaves them five points behind league leaders Third Lanark.

A slow start allowed John Street to take the lead after 10 minutes when the striker netted at the front post.

Ross Anderson had his penalty saved by the John Street goalkeeper in 25 minutes and YM keeper Ross Calder produced some fine saves himself to keep the score at 1-0.

Early in the second half YM equalised when Sean Kelly’s deflected shot found the net, only for John Street to break up the park and regain the lead.

YM continued to dominate and in the 80th minute Paul McLean struck at the back post to pull YM level again.

YM kept pushing and Sean Kelly rifled home their third six minutes from time before Murray McClure’s penalty in the 89th minute sealed the victory.

Meanwhile, a double booking at Ravenscraig meant the Caledonian League side could not play their scheduled game against Milngavie.

They now go into Saturday’s Scottish Cup sixth round clash with Dumbarton St Pats having been sidelined for the past three weeks. It has been quite an achievement to get to the last 32 in the competition, which started with over 1000 teams, and they will hope to pull off a shock against the cup favourites.

Elsewhere, YM’s 35s started their preseason by defeating Easthall Star 5-2. Ex-Hibs striker Tam McManus and Scott McEwan both scored two with Brian Thomson scoring a peach of a free kick.
