Schools, nurseries and education services in East Kilbride are being encouraged to enter nominations for this year’s Scottish Education Awards.
The annual awards recognise the achievements of those who dedicate their lives to children and young people – and showcase the valuable work and innovation in Scottish classrooms.
East Kilbride has always been well represented at the event, with finalists making the cut almost every year.
Last year, Sanderson High School beat off stiff competition to triumph in the employability across learning award for secondary schools.
And in 2016, Daniele Timmons, now depute head teacher at St Vincent’s Primary School, picked up the prestigious teacher of the year prize.
This year there are awards in 15 categories covering all areas of education from literacy and numeracy to sustainability, languages and partnerships.
South Lanarkshire Council’s director of education Tony McDaid said: “These awards give us all an opportunity to celebrate those successes and for us to say thank you for the positive contribution made to the education of our children, young people, adult learners and families.”
The Scottish Education Awards 2018 are managed by our sister paper, the Daily Record, and delivered in conjunction with Education Scotland.
