Roadsaredreadful

-

Dear Editor,

The state of the roads in East Kilbride is dreadful.

South Lanarkshire Council have had the best part of a fortnight to get this sorted and we as motorists in this town see nothing but potholes getting bigger.

A prime example is Lickprivick Road in Greenhills at the entrance to Troon Avenue. This is getting to the stage that I reckon you will find it hard to drive on that surface within a fortnight.

The entrance to Troon Avenue is virtually impossible to drive in without causing serious damage to your car and potholes are getting bigger by the day.

I know other roads in the town are probably the same but it is dreadful that SLC are not acting on this as it’s really becoming an emergency.

A lot of anger is building in Greenhills and surrounding areas because of this and it’s high time it was sorted.

It is only a matter of time before someone has an accident or wrecks their cars due to the defects on the road.

I know the weather has been dreadful, but they have spent a lot of money upgrading roads in EK over the past couple of years and this shows that they must have gone with the cheaper option, the way the roads are breaking up. A major repair on most roads is now needed in these areas and that affects us, the taxpayer, to which I say: it is not our fault! James Bowyer, via email
