A man suffered a broken jaw after an “unprovoked” attack in an East Kilbride street.
The 35-year-old was left unconscious following an incident involving two men in St Leonards.
Police have this week issued a fresh appeal for information as they bid to trace those responsible.
East Kilbride’s police inspector has issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after a “violent” unprovoked street attack which left a man unconscious with a broken jaw.
The 35-year-old victim was making his way home through a lane in Loch Loyal, St Leonards at around 8pm on Friday, February 19 when he was set upon by two men.
He was struck on the head from behind and knocked unconscious. The victim was treated for a broken jaw after making his own way to University Hospital Hairmyres.
Inspector Aidan Higgins said: “Lanarkshire CID continue to investigate this incident and we continue to seek the assistance of the public. I appeal to the local East Kilbride community to please get in touch with us if you have any information which could assist our enquiries into this violent attack.”
The suspects are described as white and in their 20s. Both are around 5ft 10in tall, of medium build and were wearing dark coloured clothing.
The suspects also had a small dark brown Staffordshire bull terrier with them. Officers carried out door-todoor enquiries and are reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to trace those responsible.
Detective Constable Grant Robertson said last week: “I am appealing to people living in the area for any information. It was around 8pm at night so there may well have been people out and about, perhaps walking their dog. Did you see these two men?”
Call 101 if you can help.
