Pothole patrol

There was a huge response to last week’s story which featured mum Joanne Moffat who has launched an online campaign page – Safer Roads for Scots – on Facebook.

East Kilbride News readers had their say on the state of roads and highlighted problem areas.

Joyce Williamson said:“Well done to this lady. A lot of us, including myself, moan about the state of the roads but don’t do much else.”

Nic Nac said:“I’ve reported at least four, all of which seem to be repaired. Keep reporting them to the council.”

Denise Clark said:“East Mains Road still not fixed. Tried to fill with stuff that’s no good. Waste of time.”

Amyanne Southworth said: “Roads in EK are a disgrace.”

Caroline Graham said:“Of course they can’t fix them straight away but you expect them to be filled in adequately enough at least to last until the spring.”

Anne Porteous said:“Not just in East Kilbride. Seems to be everywhere.”

Dougie Stuart said:“Might be quicker to name the roads without potholes – not seen the roads this bad for a good while.”

And Michelle MacIver posted: “Lickprivick Road’s like a patchwork quilt.”

Elaine Wyper said:“I reported a big one in my road with several smaller ones. They came out and fixed the big one and drove away.”

But James Ford said:“After a thaw the roads just explode – that’s the reality of Scotland.”
