Tough cuptrips forEKas fixtures revealed

East Kilbride Cricket Club’s preparations for the 2018 season are well underway following the announcement of their league fixtures recently.

The Torrance House side were relegated from the Western Premier last season and their bid for an automatic return to the top flight begins on Saturday, April 28 when they travel to Glasgow Accies in their First Division opener.

Last season’s fixture card was badly affected by the weather and their lack of games played a part in their relegation, so they will be hoping for kinder conditions this year.

They are due to finish the campaign in August away to Stenhousemuir and EK’s 18 scheduled league fixtures for 2018 are as follows: April

Glasgow Accies (A) May Weirs (H) Helensburgh (A) GHK (H) Irvine (H) June Drumpellier (A) Renfrew (H) Kelburne (A) Stenhousemuir (H) Glasgow Accies (H) July Weirs (A) Helensburgh (H) GHK (A) Irvine (A) August Drumpellier (H) Renfrew (A) Kelburne (H) Stenhousemuir (A) Meanwhile, the club’s cup fixtures have also been revealed and EK will find themselves on their travels frequently, with two trips to face Poloc in the two big competitions.

Their first round tie in the Rowan Cup will see them travel to Poloc on Thursday May 10. The winners of that tie will play West of Scotland CC in round two.

Just three days later EK will head back to the south west of Glasgow to face Poloc in round one of the Scottish Cup.

On May 17, East Kilbride face a trip to Inverclyde in their Greenwood Trophy opener, with the winners earning an away tie with Kilmarnock in the next round.

In the McCulloch Cup, a midweek tournament played on Wednesday evenings in May and June , EK will tackle Drumpellier, Stenhousemuir and Uddingston in the group stages.

On May 9 they travel to Stenhousemuir and head to Drumpellier on May 16.

EK will then host Uddingston on May 23 and Stenhousemuir on May 30 before welcoming Drumpellier on June 6 and then rounding things off with a trip to Uddingston on June 13. Should they qualify from the group, their quarter-final match will be played on June 27.
