Cold weather doesn’t spoil a great outing

- Edith Findlay

Glorious blue sunny skies the whole day accompanied Claremont Rambling Club on their two walks at Strathblane.

The long walk was eight miles and the circuit followed was the Strathblane Circular.

The alternative walk was a mile less in length and started in Milngavie and finished in Strathblane.

Scenic views were absolutely crystal clear with not a cloud to mar the view, however, it was bitterly cold when not walking and in sheltered areas.

Many paths had frozen puddles which hadn’t thawed requiring careful placing of feet.

However, the cold did not mar the enjoyment of the day or the company of walking companions and everyone enjoyed a really good outing.

A morning coffee stop was arranged for Dobbies in Milngavie and the social hour was in the pleasant Kirkhouse Inn, Strathblane.

The next walk will be this Sunday with the destination of Callander Crags.

And the next club meeting is on Tuesday, March 13 in the usual venue of Claremont Church’s small hall at 7.30pm.

The speaker on this occasion will be the very welcome return of Craig Mains and his subject is ‘Mull and Iona’.

Individuals wishing to join either walks or club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
